Robert Sherber started his musical journey with bass lessons at the age of 14. By the age of 16 his career as a professional musician was launched, playing popular songs in local venues. Robert attended Dillard School of the Arts, and was a member of the school’s Commercial Music Ensemble. In 2005 Robert was hired as a sideman for TK recording artist Clarence Reid aka Blowfly, which led to 6 tours of the United States and Canada, with notable performances at the CMJ Music Conference in New York City and the South by South West music festival in Austin, Texas. In 2010 Robert was asked to perform in Australia with Mr. Reid at the Big Day Out festival, which included stops in Auckland, New Zealand, and the Australian coast.
After earning his Bachelor’s degree in jazz performance in 2016 from Florida International University, Robert was hired as an instructor for the School of Rock, teaching his love for music at the school’s West Broward location. In the summer of 2017 Robert completed his second tour with Blues guitarist Joel Dasilva, which included performances at the Montreal Jazz and Blues Festival, Mont Tremblant Blues festival, as well as a performance at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago where the legendary guitarist sat in with the band. Robert performed with young guitar phenom Jacob Reese Thornton at the Dallas International Guitar Festival in 2018 and received his Master’s degree in jazz studies from FIU in 2019. Robert is currently an adjunct professor at Broward College and continues to fuel his passion for music, while dividing his time between his studies, live performances, and his students.
